The last public chapter

When Xal’atath and the Devouring Host came for the Sunwell, Turalyon was called to lead the Vanguard of the Light. Lor’themar Theron and Lady Liadrin were already in the defense of Quel’Thalas. He arrived as Lord Commander and as the Army’s High Exarch, with paladins and priests enough to try a ritual at the Sunwell itself. The ritual drove a beam of Light into the Voidstorm and bought a pause. It did not end the war. He and the Vanguard remained in Silvermoon as guests while the ritual had to be kept.

The chapter that belongs to him, rather than to the invasion, happens at Amani Pass. In what the record calls Light-blind wrath, he struck Arator. His son. The same Light that had made him High Exarch moved through him hard enough to wound his own child. Arator, later, repaired Turalyon’s broken shield and brought it back, which is as close to a forgiveness as the campaign allows on the page. Turalyon did not put the guilt down. Guilt over Lothar had already had decades to teach him that he stores these blows rather than spending them.

Paladins and warriors charge out of a beam of Light into a mass of void creatures with blue fire and black claws. Fallen fighters lie on a red and gold floor.

At the Voidspire the war climbed to Xal’atath. Alleria was filled with enough Void to turn on the people who came to reach her. Turalyon and Arator broke her out of that, and it was not the last word. Xal’atath opened the Darkwell. Alleria and Turalyon fell with it, out of the battle and out of the map. The public write-up of his life, after that chapter, lists his status as unknown. This chronicle will not correct it into a death, and it will not invent the return.

That is as far as the released story goes. Priest, one of the first five, Lothar’s lieutenant, the man who lifted the broken sword, High General of the Sons of Lothar, High Exarch, Lord Commander, regent, father of Arator, lover of Alleria. The last picture the campaign gives is not a throne. It is a well of darkness, and two of them gone into it, and a son still on the other side of the blow his father landed while the Light was using his hands.

Alleria leaps with void-lit blades above Turalyon, who strikes with a sword of Light. Arator holds a shield between them. Void beasts close in under a purple sky.

Later patches may move him. This page will not race them. If a chapter after the Darkwell is published, the honest edit is another page, with a date, not a quiet rewrite that pretends the unknown was always a doorway home. The pictures stop with the war itself: the Vanguard, the three of them, the Light against the Void. The record is what has been shown. The hope, or the dread, is not a fact we get to typeset.
