Khadgar
Khadgar arrived in Turalyon’s war already wearing an old man’s face. He was near the paladin’s age. He had none of the court stiffness Turalyon expected from mages, and the friendship was immediate. They fought the Second War together, crossed to Draenor together, and were still paired in the stories other people tell about the Sons of Lothar.
The rift after Draenor’s breaking took Turalyon and Alleria and did not take Khadgar the same way. When the shattered world was found again, Khadgar was among the ones Azeroth recovered. Turalyon was not. The mage’s later life — guardian, expedition, the wars of the modern game — runs beside this chronicle rather than inside it.
Peter Lee’s expedition painting puts the mage in the foreground with the staff. That is about as close as a picture gets to the friendship: the arcane and the Light in the same charge, and not the same thing.
