Arator the Redeemer

Arator was born in the months before his parents stepped through the Dark Portal, and he was left with Vereesa against the odds that they would not come back. They did not come back, not on any clock a child could use. He grew up in the wreckage of Quel’Thalas as well as in Vereesa’s care, trained with the Farstriders, and became a paladin of the Light his father had not been there to teach.

On Argus, Turalyon sensed him on the ship from Azeroth and discovered that a thousand years of rehearsed speeches had evaporated. The reunion is tender in the way the campaign plays it, and it does not make them a settled household. At Amani Pass, in Midnight, Light-blind wrath put Turalyon’s blow on his own son. Arator repaired his father’s shield anyway.

Arator’s part of the chronicle is the cost of a holy war that kept his parents elsewhere until he was already himself. The animated portrait is that man. The infant in the other frame is the one they left.
