Anduin Wrynn

Varian Wrynn’s son is the king Turalyon’s public life keeps circling. After the Second War, Turalyon helped settle Stormwind for Varian’s reign. Decades of absence later, he came home to Varian’s son. Anduin made him Lord Commander and gave him the hunt for Sylvanas. When the Maw took Anduin, the House of Nobles made Turalyon regent.

The regency is not a coup in the published story. It is a chair held for a missing king by a man the nobles could agree on, because he had already held Stormwind together once and because he was not bidding to found a dynasty. Anduin’s return, in the novel before Midnight, does not instantly put the crown back on his head. Genn Greymane keeps the city while Turalyon is pulled toward the Sunwell.

The picture is the chair, and the paladin in it. Anduin’s own wounds — the Maw, the years he would not rule — are his. This page only keeps the overlap: whenever the Wrynn chair is empty, Turalyon is one of the names put in it.

Five statues on the road into Stormwind: a dwarf with a hammer, a mage, a paladin, an elf with a bow and a bird, and a large warrior. Stormwind rises behind them.
