The Army of the Light
Forged
On the far side of the rift they met Xe’ra, prime naaru, and the Army of the Light. The army had been fighting the Burning Legion across the Nether for an age already. Turalyon and Alleria joined it. Time in that war did not pass the way it passed in Stormwind. The audio drama and the later campaign both treat the struggle as a thousand years. He came out of it Lightforged: Xe’ra’s blessing, an end to an ordinary mortal span, the title High Exarch.
The same years split him from Alleria along the only line that could split them. She studied the Void, because the Legion was not going to be beaten by one kind of power and she was willing to pay. Xe’ra was not willing to let her. Turalyon argued for the woman he loved. The naaru imprisoned Alleria anyway, until she would renounce what she had learned. He did not leave the Army. He also did not become, in the record, a man who wanted her caged. Both facts sit in the same chapter and neither cancels the other. Their son, meanwhile, was growing up in a world that thought his parents were statues.

He has crossed the boundaries of mortality. He has been found worthy to become an eternal protector of creation.Xe’ra, in A Thousand Years of War
The phrase people repeat is Xe’ra’s, not his. He had crossed the boundaries of mortality and been found worthy to be an eternal protector of creation. It is a coronation and a job description. The job was the Legion, everywhere the Army could reach, for as long as the Nether measured long. Lothraxion, a dreadlord broken to the Light, became one of the companions of that command. The war produced victories and a long defeat that had not yet broken. When it finally turned, it turned toward Argus, the Legion’s own seat.
Read this chapter next to the priest of Lordaeron and the tone is almost too neat: the man who could not feel the Light is remade as its permanent soldier. The neatness is the naaru’s, not the chronicle’s. The cost is written beside it. Alleria in a prison of the Light. A son unmet. A body that no longer keeps Azeroth’s time. The High Exarch who returns is not the lieutenant who left, and he is not free of that lieutenant’s loyalties.

The audio drama is the text to hear, not a summary to trust in place of it. Three parts, Robert Brooks, the official channel. This chapter uses one sentence of Xe’ra’s and leaves the rest in her voice, on the listen pages. What the prose can carry without pretending to be the drama is the structure: a war outside time, a blessing that is also a species-change, a lover punished for a weapon the war seemed to require, and a commander who does not resign. If that structure sounds like a saint’s life, the imprisonment is the paragraph that keeps it from being one.
